Wolfgang GartnerWolfgang Gartner – Joey Youngman created the Wolfgang Gartner name in late 2007 after establishing a moderately successful name as a deep house DJ. Not wanting to be criticized for such an abrupt change in style, he created the name anonymously, not revealing Gartner’s identity until July 2008. Since that time Gartner’s brand of chopped-up electro filth has regularly hit number #1 on Beatport and has been showcased on BBC’s legendary Essential Mix show.

Check out www.facebook.com/djwolfganggartner

Dan DeaconDan Deacon – Dan Deacon is famed for his live shows. When playing solo he performs on floor level within the audience, his musical devices set up on a low table, and surrounded by the crowd. Dan’s lo-fi synth pop is impossible not to dance to!

Check out www.dandeacon

Big GiganticBig Gigantic – Dominic Lalli is responsible for this jazz meets electronic mix, with Jeremy Salkin on drums and beats. The duo mix both electronic and acoustic instruments to create an ethereal sound that defies genres as it ebbs and flows in symphonically surprising ways. Not a single beat is wasted as their textured music slips from one era to another, prepare to be dazzled and delighted!

So i’m flying out from Philly for this to reunite with my San Francisco friends from when i lived there.  Lorin, do you remember the Tahoe show last year when the sound crapped out?  After that happened, me and my boys handed you  white glow in the dark wristband, do you remember this?  On it had “Tahoe 2011-The Fam” along with the Bassnectar logo.  Do you remember this/do you still have it?  If not, no worries but that was the last time “The Fam”(me and four of my friends) were together, so we made those bands and made one extra to give to you.  So obviously we will all wear them when we reunite for Basscenter!!  If you still have and could wear it too, that would be sick!  Much love bro, see you in THE City!!

  • Mike

could someone enlighten me the difference between basscenter and any other bassnectar show? How much more epic is it? I mean, I am going to see for myself, but I ‘d like to get even more hyped. :D

basscenters are really big regional events
lots more production…surprises and fun stuff abound
      extra-special mutli-genre openers
      massive crowds of diverse people
long headlining sets with great sound and visuals
      enjoy!

This doesn’t have anything to do with this Basscenter…but have yal thought about making Bassnectar wristbands (similar to the lance armstrong material type)? I rock my college one daily but would love the addition of thy nectaaaa

Me and my friends actually made six of those last year.  We all wore them to the Tahoe show and  gave Lorin the sixth one after the show, i wonder if he still has it?

  • timestretcher

I understand you want as big a crowd as you can get, but doing all ages show is not a good idea.  The last one i went to i’ll just say there were 14 year old kids there doing things 14 year old KIDS should not be doing.  I love your shows Lorin, but the environment is very un-cool for kids that age, plus it makes the older crowd feel a little weird..

    • http://www.bassnectar.net LORIN

i disagree, the last time we did the Fox Theatre in Oakland it was a beautiful mix of all ages. The average age at all our shows is 18-25, with about 20% being over 25 and about 10% being under 18. We are constantly told by every venue that we have incredibly low amount of hassles (meaning fights, overdoses, transports, “problems”) and our team is super tight, working tirelessly to create a warm, safe environment to go buck wild.

You are speaking with a bias, either because as you have gotten older, 18 year olds look younger to you, and you think they are 14, or because you are used to all ages events thrown by people who don’t care.

I am a very conscious person, I am very inclusive, and I have *ALWAYS* worked with you, since i was a young teenager working volunteer. I am not about to close doors to someone because they are 17 at a venue where every other act – including Rage Against the Machine, Ice Cube, Deadmau5, or Primus – allows them in with open arms. Sorry.

If you see someone 14 years old doing something they shouldn’t be doing then show them some love and kindness, and do your part, don’t just expect other people to do it for you.

Those kids who are gonna party are gonna party no matter what, and I would rather they come somewhere where my team has taken extra care to create a safe, inspiring environment than somewhere else. We take health and safety VERY seriously, and when i was 17 i was fucking BUCK wild, and was going to shows WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY more intense than a Bassnectar show.

      PS: forgive my horrendous typing.
i meant to say i have always worked with “youth” not with “you” although i would be happy to work with you too :)

      • Timestretcher

Yea I hear ya bro.  Lorin, please know that i meant no disrespect towards you or your team, i may have come off strong.  I do agree with a lot of what you said.  The only reason this was on my mind was because the last all ages show i was at was Tahoe last february.  I know you remember security pouring water in all the kids mouths sitting up front haha.  I asked the kid next to me how old he was and he said 15, and it was about half of a school class there together.  and i always show love, so i did tell him what my thoughts were, in a nice and respectful manner at that, i didn’t bash him at all.  You are right though, kids that party will party and i suppose it is a safe enough environment there.  I love everything you do and what you stand for so i apologize if i came off too strong.  and i just wanted to throw out that at the end of that Tahoe show(sound blew out) i handed you a rubber glow bracelet that had your logo on it and said “Tahoe 2011 The fam” on it.  Do you still have it? Me and my friends made one extra for you and we all moved to different places after that night, but we all are re-uniting for basscenter and are going to wear them.  if you still have it and want to wear it that would mean a lot to us.  Thanks Lorin, once gain no disrespect, much love man i love what you do and i can’t wait to see you on saturday-
        Jake

        • bass_TOMAHAWK

its funny that you mention those tahoe kids cause i clearly remember
some tiny ass teenie bopper chick trying to cut in front of me
&& my girl on the RAILING who were actually ragin there the ENTIRE show and she was like “cmonn moveee lemme
see bassnectar!!’” nd my girl was just like “you’re 14!! learn to get
here earlier!” and she shut up & walked away. even the kids her age
around us were laughin at her. its true, an asshole will stick out like a
sore thumb in that kinda crowd. its funny that an entire 1/2 grade’s
worth of kids was there though…definitely felt like there were more
than the usual amount that night.

i personally would rather the bass center events be all ages over the ones in smaller venues only because you dont get as much of what i call the “poster crowd” aka kids that’ll see ANY show at that venue on a fri night after a few beers regardless of whether they’ve heard of them or not. at bass centers, 14 yr olds who arent actually that hardcore might think twice bfore puttin out $50 for someone they’ve never seen or heard of before. i personally love new fans, as long as they act right & actually try to throw down & dance rather than stand there the whole time bitching about not being able to get close enough while spilling beer on the 14 yr old girls whose asses they’re trying to smack. like if i see a group of young bucks who look like they’re havin the time of their lives, i’ll usually start throwin down even harder just so they can see how its done & they’ll usually even start followin suit :) just like in any other community, the younger usually looks up to the older so whatever you’re doin, they’re just gonna wanna do that much more intensely. it can actually be a pretty incredible sight sometimes…

          • Beatreverie

little harsh ..dont ya think?..let the shorty get a peek at the stage!!!!…

she can get there earlier or at least ask nicely. i’ll totally be polite if you’re polite. i just dont believe in entitlement, ESPECIALLY to a space you didnt even bother to save for yourself until Nectar comes on. i also like personal breathing space (already a limited commodity at a GA show) & when there isnt any more, dont try to make more just because you think you’re cute. you’re not that cute. or nice. she just wasnt very nice. that was the problem. cant rage with ppl like that…& if you think you’re cuttin in front of my short ass girlfriend whose been there the ENTIRE show savin that spot, you’ve really got some serious cojones. sure you can TRY to cut in front of me, but if you f**k with my lady’s experience, you’ve got another thing comin to ya…none of this is directed towards you Beatreverie btw….if you asked nicely to get in front of me, i’d totally hook you up. just ask one of Lorin’s photographers from the show who i totally thought was just a really nice girl with a camera. after she was done snappin shots, she said thank you, showed me her nectar crew pass, nd gave me her business card. couldnt be happier i let her by. moral of this story….she said may i, excuse me, please, and thank you. its not that hard. they’re some of the easiest words to say in the english vocabulary…for a reason. just dont be an ass if you’re getting in someone’s personal space. it usually wont work out well.

I guess the last BART leaves at 11:49PM from SF so if the show ends at say 1 or 2 AM I’ll most likely be missing bassnectar.

      • http://www.facebook.com/hzaidi Hasan Zaidi

        I was told the following:

The last train heading towards Coliseum departs at 12:11. The lat train to East Bay departs at 12:21. The last Southbound train departs at 12:28 AM.

Not from the area so I don’t know if that helps but…might as well put it out there. I hope you can catch as much of the set as possible.

The amBASSadors were taking pictures with all those silly props, the frame / costumes and what not. How do we get our hands on them? The photographer told us it would be online, but left it at that. I gotta see how they turned out! Any help would be great.

    • http://www.facebook.com/hzaidi Hasan Zaidi

There were multiple photographers with different cameras, so they will probably be released sporadically. I will update you with more links to albums as they appear.

Here is one for starters: http://s1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc380/robBASSHEAD/Bass%20Center%20III/

Awesome. Thank you. If I’m right, it was you who took a picture of my group of friends. I just want to see the sillyness, but no rush. I’m sure you have a whole army of pictures to sort through and upload.

  • BaronCreager

    Lorin,
So I am really really depressed and I don’t think I’ve been this depressed for a long time. I went to Bass Center 3, my third time seeing you and it was by far the best night of my life. I drove 6 hours to come see you and one the best parts was being able to buy your badass hat with the B on the front, the basshead on the back, and your logo inside for 30$ at your merch stand. But, this is where things get sad. Towards the end of the show I got separated from my friends and went up to the balcony to rock out up there. As you shut down and everyone was rushing everyone out, I FORGOT MY HAT ON THE BALCONY!!!!! I have been so torn up because I know they are hard to find and it was the Bass Center and it was just the climax of an amazing experience, and I forgot it. I know exactly where I left it. Section 221, of the balcony, at the very bottom, on the railing at the edge. For the past 2 days I  have been extremely down and it really put a huge damper on a great experience.Anyways, I’m sure this is stupid to ask but is there anything you can do to help me out in getting a new hat?!?! I can’t find them online. I will pay again for it I don’t care. I just was so ecstatic to get that hat and it made the whole trip 1000x better, but now I have nothing…I first saw you in Tulsa in 2008 (first dubstep show) and was a devoted fan ever since. My girlfriend has your logo tattooed on her ankle. My friends all got some cool souvenir for Bass Center 3 and I don’t and I want to smash my face in the dirt for being such an idiot and forgetting mine. Regardless of your response, you are by far the most progressive, amazing, mind-blowing artist out there and I won’t ever stop listening and buying your music. Thanks for opening my eyes to real music,Baron C.

    • http://www.bassnectar.net LORIN

      awww buddy!
      thanks for the note.
let me first say that your idea of perhaps smashing your face in the dirt may be ill conceived.
generally i do not reccomend this move to anyone, and you are no exception.

if push came to shove, and there was REALLLY a deep need to smash said face into said dirt, i would maybe understand if it was the loss of 30,000,000$, or the loss of a puppy or something. but even then….that’s quite an intense go-to move.
but for a 30$ purchase, it really is just an inconvinient annoyance.
we sell those hats at the merch store online, so basically we are talking about lost money.

let’s stop and give each other a virtual hi 5. ready…?
      GO!

ok, that out of the way, hi-5s aside, think of how many people don’t even have enough money to get food, and be happy you got to experience some magical times with some magical friends, and i hope you come back again and again.

i would say i could help with the hat, but i am currently up to my neck dealing with the most ludicrous saga of lost/faulty/vanishing vinyl in the merch store, and i must tend to this

i am glad you are feeling the music and the good vibes!

      keep thy face unsmashed! :)
      L

i sat on the floor 20 feet away from the stage and watched movement from the waist level down. quite a different experience, i highly reccommend it. bass felt throughout whole body, from the bottom up

  • kangarooster

Manh oh man. Yes, the whole show was amazing. But one of my favorite parts of your set was when you somehow worked in L’autre Valse D’Amelie by Yann Tiersen. It was one of the most unreal feelings having that spaced out breath after the storm. Just to be thrown back into the madness. Loved it.

    Bravo, Lorin. Bravo.

  • Paul Mackessy

What’s with the family photo having most of the balcony blacked out? :( I was hanging over the edge, section 212, and can’t see me at all.  I know y’all can light up the place…lit up 60 rows at Red Rocks…  I’m bummed because I was actually going to see myself in this one

  • Sinse

this show was life changing. Bassnectar, is the theme song to my rise to adulthood. I remember seeing Bassnecter at the crystal ballroom in portland oregon when i was 16 … 3 years later its my 6th time seeing him at Basscenter 3. i love everything about the music. Big gigantic was awesome my second time seeing him. and dan deacon was such a mind trip. it was sweet to see him control the room with his soundboard. but one thing is I already have all the bassnectar i can get my hands on. but where can i get that obscenely filthy mix by lowRIDERz?? i tried looking online for them and there was only a couple of tracks. also.. next summer i think Lorin should play at the cuthbert auditorium in eugene oregon. It is an amazing stage and much cooler than the Mcdonalds. It hurts me too see lorin playing in the Mcdonald theatre and the Roseland because their both so ghetto and there are much better venues around the area. Also I know it’s a bit late but Regeneration was off the hook.

This night was insane plus you played WildStyle in the middle of it. That song is so badass, ridonkulous Bass. But where can i find more of Low RIDERz music?

Lorin, I saw you this past weekend in SLO and in SF. No words can describe how perfect my weekend was, your shows are insane. You are truly an incredible artist, I can’t wait to see what you do next. Keep making incredible music, I can’t wait to see you again! <3
