BASS ISLAND :: NEW YORK CITY

The Bassnectar team is thrilled to bring you the first ever BASS ISLAND adventure, part one in a spellbinding trilogy of music, art, and culture that will unfold on the beautiful South Island Field at Governors Island, New York City, on August 13th, 2011.

We want to create a unique world to explore, beyond the realms of a normal concert experience. Much like the regional Bass Center events, we expect to ram this island to the gills with freaks and bass heads, as it is our only stop in NYC for the rest of the year.

This is an All Ages event.

Ferries Start: 3:00 PM
Doors: 4:00 PM
Ends: 11:30 PM

Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster at the link below until noon on the day of the event, and at the Mercury Lounge and Music Hall Of Williamsburg box offices until 4pm (cash only) – after which tickets will be available at South Island Field on Governors Island starting at 4pm until Bassnectar takes the stage (cash only). Will call tickets can be collected from the box office on the island.

BASS ISLAND FERRY INFORMATION

Bass Island free concert ferries will begin running at 3:30PM from Battery Park in Lower Manhattan, and will run until at least an hour after the event ends. You do not need to buy a ticket in advance or present a ticket to ride the ferry. The Battery is accessible from State Street and Battery Place. Once inside Battery Park, please follow signs for Concert Ferries and keep an eye out for directional staff. It’s a five minute walk from State Street.

BY SUBWAY:
• East Side Express 4 / 5 to Bowling Green
• Midtown Local R / W to Whitehall Street
• West Side Local 1 to South Ferry

BY BUS:
• M1, M6, M15 to South Ferry

BY CAR:
• From Queens and Brooklyn: Take the BQE to Brooklyn Bridge, FDR South to Exit 1 toward Battery Park/ Staten Island
• From Manhattan and the Bronx: FDR or the West Side Highway to Battery Park. Parking garages are located on West Street and South Street.

      * Info on our free ferries has been updated above, check it.  * Your VIP ticket gives you access to a separate viewing area but you will still be able to roam free in the main arena amongst the feral  cats and bass walruses  * I don’t yet have any afterparty details… Some mystery business…

      Yes we will push it as late as can go.
      Like many outdoor festivals, there are of course curfews from the city, but we are starting early in the day, this is a full festival lineup, and I will have a full 2 hour set to go deep into multiple musical directions with you all :)

      Show ends at 11:30pm. Ferries will still be running – we have our own ferries for this event. I would call them Bass Ferries but in all honesty I doubt they will be packing much bass. We’re saving all the bass for the island.

      dood I am not only playing at Bass Island, we are doing a FULL SET for 2 beautiful hours, after one of the sickest lineups i’ve ever dreamt up, and it is our ONLY show in the area until 2012

    I just paid $22.87 for an iPad 2 (64 GB) and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS.       Dude awesome! You’re bound to meet some cool people there. Best part about these shows are everyone is there to have a good time, enjoy good music, and connect with everyone they meet. Glad you’re taking the first jump.

      everyone there, experienced or not, should be a nice person at the very least but you’ll see that bassheads are very accepting and friendly…hard to explain the vibe but always good, you’re going to meet some amazing people. don’t be shy!

        1. lead by example and just show them how you would want to be treated, hopefully they learn by example.

        2. if they are open to it, then express yourself. I constantly watch out for people who are new to the experience, and try and lend advice about ettiquette, or how to be the best they can be

        3. if a situation isn’t pleasant, just walk away. no need to be someone else’s parent. if they haven’t figured it out, it is probably better for you to move 20 feet to the right or left and enjoy yourself without their interferance

        again, as in any community, people need to openly share with others, and be receptive to others. that is one of the beautiful parts of this community in general, is everyone is there to have a good time with each other, so a bad apple sticks out like a sore thumb.

        for me the goal is always to make others as happy as possible. it just comes back around

      Tickets will be available at the box office on the island! Also you do not need a ticket to ride the ferry, you can wait and get your ticket when you arrive.
