I absolutely cannot wait to go to this show and Sac ……….

I’m just wondering some thing maybe lorn will read this maybe not but i just have a genral inquiry,In
light of recent events Lorin has stopped speaking out, in his music at
least I realize that he is still vocal at his concerts as i was front
row center stage on February 11th, and 12th and on the 11th Egypt gained
is freedom form its oppressors, and the rebels were recognized as the
winning faction, Lorin mentioned this and dedicated his “Walk Like an
Egyptian” remix to them, however, the last time he spoke out in his as
far as i know was in 2007, i am just wondering why, he has said many
times “Don’t be afraid to speak out”
so why is it that he has been silent?

    I
have a great respect for Lorin however, it is based on his actions, and
i understand Artist must progress to adapt the the constantly changing
musical scene. I respect him for his “lack of fear” for his “ability to
speak through music.” His music is amazing, but i am wondering why he has seemingly stopped speaking out?

there are more than one way to stand up or speak out for things you believe in..

      • Colton Johnson

Yeh but he has lost his voice, no longer is he blatant about it as he was in songs like inspire the empathetic…im just wondering is all

        • Anonymous

if he was still making songs just like inspire the empathetic then you (not you, particularly, just active listeners like yourself) would say his whole act is tired and he needs to stop ranting

like i said, there are many ways to speak out or stand up for what you believe in

          • Colton Johnson

however i would not as i love to entertain my mind, and im not asking for an album just a song or intro to a mix once in a while…. my generation has lost itself in self indulgence

            We have forgotten
to worry about the future and question the present, we are a lost generation,
who wanders but are indefinitely LOST

  • Rachel Smith

Why is this one 18+ but a lot of the others are all ages?? Please change it or make under 18 be accompanied by adult please!!

    • Dunwody

It is almost always up to the venue and the promoter. There is a myriad of different reasons, but for this one we are going to be keeping it at 18+
We love ya, and want you to have many shows with us in the future, but this one is 18+.

  • Kristo60

Thank you for making it 18 and over!  I wish it was 21 and over to keep all kids out who don’t know when enough is enough.  Your last show that I went to was overrun with teens who were wrecked!  There are certain advantages to being an adult and going to killer shows with other adults (without kids running around) is one of them!  I’m a mom, by the way, but there’s a time and place for everything.  Can’t wait for you to kill it in your hometown of Santa Cruz!!

  • Emma Byrnes

This show will not sell out if you  don’t make it AT LEAST 16 and up.  Please, there are so many people under 18, including myself hoping that we can enjoy seeing Bassnectar for the 2nd time in our home town at the Civic. like in 2011.  There is no reason to limit the group to which can enjoy your music, it’s just unfair.  I know, some kids cannot handle themselves with all the drugs and such, but neither can many adults. Why don’t you make a 21 and over SECTION so people who dislike the teens there don’t have to see them “wrecked” and whatever else they are too selfish to share the venue with other bassnectar fan.

    • Dunwody

There are times when we can control this, and times when we cannot. This is one of the times where it is not up to us. We like 16+ but the venue would not do the show unless it was 18+. We thought it was even going to be 21+ at one point. We are working on other shows in the area, so stay tuned as they might be close to you. I love your enthusiasm, and i hope that we will one day again play an AA show in Santa Cruz. Thank you

      • HOV

please book more 21+ shows in SF like the they used to be before bassnectar became a household name for 12-16 year olds

  • Timothy LeBon

  • Autumn

I love Bassnectar. I’m a responsible 16 year old. I don’t see why I can’t go to his show and listen to an amazing Santa Cruz musican. Born and raised SC, and I’m proud. I sorry if kids are running around wasted, kick them out not me.

    • Autumn

    • Don’t know if you saw this farther down the thread, but this is how the crew responded to someone else talking about the age limit….

“There are times when we can control this, and times when we cannot. This is one of the times where it is not up to us. We like 16+ but the venue would not do the show unless it was 18+. can will call tickets be sold?

    • If you want to give someone your will call ticket you can either go with them to the box office, and pick it up for them the night of the show. If you don’t plan on being there you can call and get the name switched from yours to theirs prior.
contact the vendor you bought the ticket from (ticketmaster, inticketing, local box office, etc.) and request to change the name on the ticket.

  • Louisa

WHAT THE FUCK. I’ve been looking forward to this for MONTHS. Shouldn’t this be something the venue should look into BEFORE the show? Hotel already booked..Can’t believe I’ll be missing Bassnectarrr. Love of my life!

  • It’s majorly disappointing to have the show cancelled the day before, my best friend is flying out from Wisconsin

  • HOV

WTF indeed! Days requested of work, hotels booked and vacation to santa cruz for my birthday all now pretty much fucked. how can they find out about noise ordinances two days before a show or not have screened the artist coming to their venue prior. this is just shitty

  • Josh

CANCELLED – OMG Santa Cruz – What is wrong with you?  It is no secret what a Bassnectar show is like and Lorin has performed at the Civic before how can this happen Santa Cruz?  Why wasn’t this figured out before the day before???

    • andy

probably some BS politics… who knows.

      • Jeff

Bassnectar kept adding more and more extraneous equipment to the show that the Civic could not accomodate. Bassnectar’s production was well aware of the Civic’s capacity and they kept adding equipment. This is like booking a puppet show at a church and then adding a monster truck, then getting mad when it can’t be done. Not the Civic’s fault.

  • brownfi$t

FUCK the civic center! i got a 3000 wat system, lets get a generator and have the show in the FOREST. sluglife

  • Ripbasssc555

Why was the May 3rd show cancelled i had tickets for 3 months then it was cancelled the day before. I was looking forward to seeing bassnectar for the first time, all of my friends had tickets it was going to be epic but instead it was cancelled with everyone at the box office claiming the responsibility lies with Bassnectar or the CIty of Santa Cruz, so what epic failure occurred?

  • BrookeMae26

Is the age limit still 18 and up for both days?

  • Patrick7picard

Wtf. Took time off work, drove all the way out here, paid for the hotel, then find out the day of the show that it’s cancelled! Can’t make the shows at the catalyst cause I do not live here and wasted half my paycheck on this weekend already. I am beyond upset. Completely unprofessional

    • Laura

It isn’t Bassnectar’s or anyone affiliated with Bassnectar’s fault.
You need to blame the City of Santa Cruz. They are the people who are accountable for this.

  • Patrick7picard

I completely understand it is the city’s fault. I’m just incredibly frustrated.

  • Treebonelumber

Image hearing Bassnectar for free in the forest meadow under a full moon with the music going on to sunrise…
