Dubuasca is my religion. Can you come back and be a professor for the Electronic Music program here at UCSC? PQE's story of you as the model e-music student inspired me to go all-out for my final compositions this year.

Bassnectar reminds me of everything that is pure, unadulterated, raw as f@*# , ……The sounds of the universe expanding infinetly in a single atom. And the beat goes on….

I love you Lorin. your music puts me in a place that i love and never want to leave. and when the song is over im on my knees begging for more. PLease Give ME MORE!!

    • http://www.bassnectar.net LORIN

thank yu sir! that is cool you posted this on Diverse Systems….most of this was made in 2001 and 2002, and is pretty much all re-created death metal songs i wrote in high school, but that i never really intended to be “death metal” as much as just suuuuuper fahkin deep and melodic and churning
      :)

      • Waldo

Speaking of metal. I happen to be a huge thrash metal fan, particularly Slayer, Pantera, and Metallica. I ran across a video of you mixing Slayer and Pantera at a show you did a few years ago. Anyway you release those tracks on an EP? Maybe a “Select Kutz Vol. 2″?

        That would be so sick

  • WA360

This was the first album of yours introduced to me four years ago. The consistent evolution of your music throughout every album is amazing! Keep it up! Plus, that was a ridiculous, face-melting show in Seattle two night ago (2/5/11)!!!

  • TheGnome

Speaking of 'diverse systems of throb', I was talking with a freind of mine who told me about a subwoofer designed for car audio by MTX called “Jack Hammer”. He claimed that AC/DC used them in concert and it upstaged the guitar amps. I looked it up online and was wowed by the $12,000 price tag. Whether it is worth it or not, I don't know, but it does bring up a question of what you think of it and other subwoofer products. My arguement to my friend was that humans can only hear so low of a frequency of bass and so depth of frequency was not as much of a concern as having a speaker that could handle the wattage and physical battering to the cones (or whatever delivers the sound). I told him about some Infinity speakers of mine that got abused by me until they started literally tearing apart.

    • Argh

Sounds are waves and hearing isn't the only way we experience them.

my brother introduced me to your music with this cd 3 yrs ago…been following you since then…never been disappointed and love it more and more…the way you portray your voice through your music never ceases to amaze me…keep on inspiring *2 thumbs up*

Lorin Hopefully you read this and can help me out here buddy! I'm really curious about something The song on here Enthusiasm is Contagious not really a song but more of an Awareness message about net neutrality and warning us of the 6 major companies that control the media! Is that the true name of that song??? Here's why I ask I have a version of the Diverse album that I got a while ago and on that one this song is not called Enthusiasm is Contagious it is in fact called Inspire the Empathic which I feel fits that better!!! and for the Longest time I thought Enthusiasm was the title of that track on Diverse where your laughing with a guy in the studio and he starts beatboxing and it turns into the SONG Brilliant track BTW! :) I would love to get an answer too this question its really got me scratching my head!

Also this version of Diverse Systems differs from mine slightly(so much so I had too buy this version) some songs are longer! Breathing has an entire new sound at the end of it! and Replenish has a new intro too it with different drum taps!!
Is this something you added when all these got uploaded too this site???

    • lesliebooher

i love that laughing and beatboxing track regardless of its title !!

  • Stingrayschick

Hey man love this early stuff. Always gotta remember where you came from and don’t forget to be original with what you create.  Love your original style!

  • constantlyevolving

I absolutely LOVE all of your early stuff.  This album is timeless and beautiful.  I blast it in my front yard and hoop to it!!!!!   It makes me feel (*trying to find the words to describe*)….beautiful and connected to everything…we are all ONE…and happiness is only real when shared…..!!!! This work of art has a special place in my heart…!!!
P.S.  you threw down so hard in Minneapolis on Friday (9/30/2011).  It’s magical what you can make a group of people do!!!!! I haven’t danced that hard in a while!!!

I ordered this set over the summer (I had my friend order it for me for I do not use a checking card or bank card- just cash. she had it delievered to my correct home aderess.) and I just got it, as I finally stopped by my mothers house to get it. I got the tee shirt and stickers, but no album!!! I WAS SO SAD. and it was so long ago that I ordered! WHAT SHOULD I DO?!

    • Anonymous

  • Zacksummers

still as powerful in 2011…still makes me lose myself in my imagination…i might not be able to come to every single show like i want too but i can still jam the fuck out in my head or in my car anywhere i go…

In the words of Jay-Z: “if you want my old shit, buy my old albums”.

      • http://twitter.com/colleenmcnasty robot_bass

        Love this
Always quote it when the haters gotta hate on the new nectar
Whether a bass crusher or a beautiful blend of tinkles and melodies, it’s all amazing by its own merit

“a revolution can be anything, but i will tell you this, that a revolution according to thomas jefferson, james madison, monroe, and all the founding fathers is my divine right…

a revolution can be… my divine right”

does anyone know to whom this quote can be attributed?
    absolute love :)

    • Breck Moltz

      Mumia Abu-Jamal?

      • http://twitter.com/colleenmcnasty robot_bass

word, mumia abu-jamal is for sure the person being sampled right before the quote i posted in my original comment, but i am not sure if they are the same people. They sound close, but not the same. The mumia abu-jamal one is more of an interview or a radio broadcoast, but the divine right one sounds like a speech. I dug deep and found this interview lorin did talking about his inspirations, and learned that a lot of the quotes i love sampled onto diverse systems and motions of mutation come from noam chomsky, so ive been listening to a lot of him lately. But he doesnt sound quite like our mystery source of the divine right quote either. i could be wrong. Im just curious, though. I love these samples…intro, simultaneous, inspire the empathic – so many powerful statements condensed amongst wobbles :) reasons we love bassnectar

  • Zacharymaffuid

      • Anonymous
