For Whom the Bass Tolls

This next transmission is just a single track, unmixed, intended for (amongst other things) DJs who want a super charge full throttle explosion to add to their sets. While the Bassnectar scientists crank away in the labs working on new album material, we thought we might toss out a couple of bootlegs or something, so we’re starting with this.

A tribute to one of the major musical influences of the Bassnectar sound, this mash-up combines elements of Blue State Riddim’s beats and vocals (featuring Jahi) with one of metal’s most insane bangers ever. For whom the bass tolls is about uprising, and about defiance. it is a positive way of saying we will never forget what certain neo- conservative humans did over the last decade, even after they have left office, locked up their records in presidential libraries, blacked out all their crimes on paper, pardoned each other, siphoned the wealth of the middle class into their defense contractors and other corporate crony cash deposits. Even if the major media that they own and control tries to rewrite history, and say they are good people, or maybe the media will just avoid the topics, and supply refuge, it is important to keep in mind that some heavy crimes have been committed, under the watch of Dick Cheney, George Bush, George W Bush, and so many others. We will not forget, and we will not forget about the wars they started, the people they killed, the economy they destroyed, the policies they passed, the torture they condoned, and the personal gain they enjoyed as a result of their crimes. Enjoy this music.

    Lorin.
Have you watched the 11th hour?
One of the best movies I have watched.
One of my favorite quotes from it, “We know 1000 companies, but we hardly know 10 native plants.”
    Hope you enjoy it.

    Paul Stamets.
The man’s goals are 1. to conquer mycophobia or biased prejudice or what he calls racism (that most people have toward mushrooms) (yes they are a race,(( they have their own kingdom and their kingdom is the closest kingdom to our own)) (((thus we are more closely related to fungi then plants and so on))) ), and 2. to save the planet. A super-hero and role model for all communities of the world! His work is incredible to say the least. I’ll let you decide.
An old man way up in the middle of nowhere in the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountains closer to Tahoe than any other town for miles, had told my wife and I last summer about Paul’s company, Fungi Perfecti, that we should look into it, and that his life had changed completely after meeting Paul years previously. (This was the night before you had released the announcement for B.A.V.)
I put Paul on the back burner, not really understanding the weight of the words the old man was saying to me until Paul was re-established into my world last night, when I had to watch a Ted talks about the “6 ways fungi can save the world” for Ecology homework. My wife had actually done research the whole 2 hours home, and we even signed up for his free catalog to be shipped to us on our way back from the mountains (after buying your ticket of course) but I had no idea how important this old man of the mountain was to my wife and I’s wellbeing this year and for the rest of our lives until right now.
Witnessing the beauty of life that he had never seen. Humans, and more importantly plants and bugs, have evolved with fungi for hundreds of millions of years and has prolonged all of our ephemeral lives with it’s amazing ability to have symbiotic relationships with all species.
