Bassnectar - Bass Center 2016

I’m still in awe of what we were able to accomplish at Bass Center. So many beautiful pieces working in unison to pull off our largest event ever! And with so many special moments taking place throughout the course of the weekend, this one really stood out to me as a magical highlight:

Last Spring I saw this video “Cosmic Eye” by Danail Obreschkow online, as I was searching for a good illustration of “Macro vs Micro”, and as I watched it I immediately thought to myself “I want to sync music to this” and then immediately I started hearing the audio of “Parade Into Centuries” in my mind. It seemed to play perfectly along with the visuals, which is fitting as the theme of that song is about the simultaneous macro/micro universal existence – I wrote it for my parents almost 15 years ago, and it’s an abstract conceptualization of how life moves and evolves through the time, always changing and evolving yet maintaining core attributes while shapeshifting.

I was so inspired that I took a friends phone, turned the volume down, and cued up the “Cosmic Eye” video, and then held my phone next to it with “Parade Into Centuries” cued up, and hit play simultaneously. I was speechless as I watched the video move in perfect sync (even perfect tempo and flow) with the song, as if it was meant to be. I contacted the artists & team who created it, and told them the story. We agreed to broadcast it live and high res at Bass Center, but I wanted to share it with you here, so you could relive some of the magic:

And here’s a Youtube clip from the actual moment at Bass Center…

  • Kyle Harvey

One of the best parts of the whole weekend. We had no idea what was coming.

  • Karl Vostal

I myself think about this as well. The beauty that a human has the intellect to know such a small scope of life, and even the same for the large because it seems to me that we are gifted to be in the middle or zero mark of the metric system in regards to this odometer portrayed concept. And the Bassnectar song Parade Into Centuries has always given me the gracious yet curious feeling of knowing that I’m an important figure in the Universe, but yet am always on an intrigued mindset to discover more and more and more. Thank you Lorin for finding this video and synthesizing it with such an abstract warmth of time. 🙂 <3

  • This part of that night spoke to me. Thank You sooo much for dropping the original Mesmerizing the Ultra Parade Into Centuries and not some half assed remix.

My chem professor played this video for me when he was teaching us metric prefixes, some 6 years ago in college. It was so magical to see it at basscenter over Parade!
